The Zig Zag Book uses multiple sections of folded sheets sewn into a leather wrapper. It's binding relies on sewing two sections into the cover at once. Sewing sheets directly into the cover allows the book to open fully and lay mostly flat making it an excellent journal or sketchbook. A leather strap or envelope enclosure could be used for finishing the cover.
