Two 3hour sessions to learn the fundamentals of bookbinding.

Session 1 will cover preparing a sewn textblock using the unsupported link stitch. We will talk about imposition, fold sheets into sections, sew and line the spine of our textblock.

During Session 2 we will construct a case to fit our textblock.

Over the course of both sessions we will look at various book models and discuss their construction and application for other bindings. Students will get an introduction to the basic tools and methodologies in bookbinding.

All tools and materials will be provided including a written handout.
